Exosomes are very small extracellular vesicles released by cells. They can carry biological materials and participate in communication between cells.
Because of these characteristics, exosomes have attracted considerable scientific interest.
Research is exploring their possible roles in diagnostics, drug delivery and regenerative medicine.
However, scientific interest should not be confused with established clinical effectiveness.
The FDA’s published safety alert states that there are no FDA-approved exosome products. Check the FDA directly for any changes before making a decision; U.S. status does not establish authorization in another country.
Patients should be particularly careful when exosome products are advertised as proven treatments for numerous unrelated diseases.
