Finding doctors in Costa Rica
Choose a clinician around your needs, location, communication and continuity of care.
Ask a coordinatorDefine the type of visit
Start with your goal: routine care, a specialist opinion, follow-up after a procedure or a new concern. Ask which type of professional should review the request and whether the proposed practice can support your needs. If you are unsure, describe the goal without trying to select a diagnosis.
Verify before booking
- Full professional name, registration details and relevant specialty.
- Actual appointment location and whether the named doctor will see you.
- Language support during the visit and when results are discussed.
- Consultation fee, expected records and cancellation terms.
- How urgent questions, test results and follow-up are handled.
Prepare a useful introduction
Bring a concise care summary, current medications, allergies and relevant results. Ask how to transfer records securely before sending detailed medical information. Keep your current clinician involved when a condition needs ongoing monitoring.
A directory listing is a starting point, not a guarantee of availability or fit. Ask for confirmation of the proposed doctor and appointment details before arranging travel.
For Medicina Mixta
Use the participating-doctor request form if you specifically need Medicina Mixta. Program registration must be checked separately. For other providers, our provider-review methodology explains questions to ask when considering a care team.
