Vision care · Costa Rica

LASIK and vision correction, planned with clear eyes.

Understand the clinical review, provider questions, travel timing and follow-up that belong in a complete vision-correction plan before you make a treatment decision.

Start with candidacy

A consultation is more important than a quoted price.

LASIK is not appropriate for every eye or every prescription. A licensed ophthalmologist should review your goals and perform the examinations needed to recommend LASIK, PRK, another option or no elective procedure.

  • Current and previous prescriptions and stability over time
  • Corneal topography, thickness and eye-surface health
  • Dry-eye symptoms, medications and relevant medical history
  • Pupil, retina, lens and overall eye-health evaluation
  • Realistic benefits, limitations, alternatives and individual risks

Compare the complete proposal

  • Name and credentials of the treating ophthalmologist
  • Facility and laser platform used
  • Recommended procedure and why it fits your examination
  • Pre-operative tests, medication and post-operative visits included
  • Total written price, exclusions and cancellation terms
  • Emergency contact and continuity plan after returning home

Plan travel around your eyes

  • Allow time for the in-person candidacy examination
  • Confirm when treatment may occur after testing
  • Follow restrictions for driving, swimming, exercise and eye makeup
  • Protect eyes from sun, dust and rubbing as instructed
  • Do not assume that feeling better replaces scheduled follow-up
Patient questions

LASIK travel FAQs

How do I know whether I am a candidate for LASIK?

Only a qualified ophthalmologist can determine candidacy after reviewing eye health, prescription stability, corneal measurements, tear-film health, medications and medical history.

How long should I stay in Costa Rica?

The appropriate stay depends on the procedure and surgeon's follow-up plan. Do not book a return flight until the treating clinic confirms the examination and follow-up schedule.

What should a written proposal include?

It should identify the treating ophthalmologist and facility, proposed procedure, included examinations, technology, medication, follow-up, exclusions, total cost and the plan for concerns after returning home.

Does Green Healthcare perform LASIK?

No. Green Healthcare coordinates information, provider review and travel logistics. Independent licensed ophthalmologists determine candidacy, provide treatment and remain responsible for clinical care.
